Improve deployment time during OSD with power management.


To improve the time that it takes to install a computer with OSD, you can add a “High Performance Power Scheme” while OSD is running. And then changed it back to the default “Balanced” at the end of the task sequence. You have to add the “High Performance Power Scheme” while you are in WinPE and in Windows.

1. Create a package that contains “PowerCfg.exe” for the WinPE phased. You can find the file on a windows PC.

2. Create a “Run Command Line” step when the task sequence is in WinPE. It could be just before you apply the OS image.

3. Add the following settings to the “Run Command Line” step:

Name: Set High Performance Power Scheme
Command Line: PowerCfg.exe /s 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
Package: Choose the package with PowerCfg.exe that you created in step 1.

4.  Create a new “Run Command line” step where the TS is running in windows.

5.  Add the following settings to the “Run Command Line” step:

Name: Set High Performance Power Scheme
Command Line: PowerCfg.exe /s 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c

6. Create a new “Run Command line” step at the end of the task sequence.

Name: Set Balanced Performance Power Scheme
Command Line: PowerCfg.exe /s 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e
